Deck Overview:

Control Shadowcraft (Often referred to as Nephthys shadow) is a deck that is centered around its main card, Nephthys. By using her ability to kill her own followers, she pairs very well with shadows goal to generate shadows as well as provide an overwhelming shift in momentum when played due to creating so much board presence.

Nephthys Unevolved Nephthys 8

"This world and the next are unchanging"

The Star attraction! Nep Nep the queen of the dead and she is ready to take some names! Many times, people when they first see Nephthtys say "How is this card any good?". If the deck is build completely around her, it can be incredibly difficult for your opponent to deal with her.

Depending on your configuration (You can read more about configurations in the Deck Archetype Progression section), Nephthys can build up a powerful field and completely cripple your opponent all in one motion!

"Judgement for heretics like you!"

If there was ever a card where you went "I really hate when my opponent plays this against me!!" It would be this one. Khawy is your premiere 7 PP follower in this deck. While he can be summoned and destroyed off of Nephthys ability, he is a perfectly suitable turn 7 Play to help protect you until turn 8.

Your opponent often has to play very poorly around Khawy because he is capable of swinging games back into your favor on his own by killing a follower your opponent has an you gaining defense after he is killed. Him having ward is just an additional bonus to an incredibly powerful effect.

"Let's do this right!"

The undying man himself! Mordecai is this decks best finisher. The only way to deal with is to either find a way to put him back into the hand or banish him. He will not die no matter how much your opponent attacks it or attempts to destroy it with a spell.

As he can be summoned immediately after Nephthys is played, Mordecai is an automatic include in any control shadow list.

The thing about this deck is since it geared towards Nephthys, you will not be playing solely on optimal curves. So getting your early game followers and spells is very valuable because it allows you to hold off your opponent until you can get to the your magical turn 8.

Deck Progression:

Early Game

  • You want to try and generate as many shadows as you can. This can be achieved by using your early followers to trade with your opponents.
  • Dealing damage to your opponent during this point is not really that important.
  • Try not to be stingy with your removal spells either. You are a control deck and you want keep your opponent limited on options.

Mid Game

  • As this deck runs a lot of removal options, you probably won't be needing to use your evolution points so much during this part of the game.
  • In the event that you don't have removal options available that you can use, don't hesitate to use your evolution points to stabilize the board.

Late Game

  • Pretty simple, Play Nephthys and watch as your opponent struggles to defeat you due to their massive tempo loss and your tempo gain. (For more: read below)

Important to note

Neph decks are centered around the idea of making maximum use of her ability. These are some of the popular follower configurations for Nephthys Shadowcraft players. 2-3-7-8

In each of these configurations, Underworld Watchman Khawy and Mordecai the Duelist are guaranteed to be brought into play by her effect as long as they are in your deck when she is summoned. The Below are a few examples of cards you can run in those play point slots.
