Rotation Archetype Overview

Reanimate Shadowcraft is a unique archetype that utilizes the ‘Reanimate’ ability to revive followers from the grave. To utilize this mechanic to its fullest potential, these cards are combined with another mechanic, Burial Rite, which discards followers from the hand to unleash powerful abilities. Reanimate is extremely powerful because it allows high cost followers to be played much earlier than normal.

Card
Expansion: Chronogenesis
Expansion: Omen of the Ten
Expansion: Dawnbreak, Nightedge
Expansion: Chronogenesis
Expansion: Brigade of the Sky

Gloomy Necromancer/Everdark Strix: Important combo pieces in the deck that have the Burial Rite ability. Gloomy Necromancer and Everdark Strix also provide resources and Stygian Warden helps with board control.

Ruleneye, Omen of Silence: Powerful early-game follower that is also extremely useful in the late-game, slowing down the opponent’s spells.

Ceridwen, Eternity Hunter: Powerful mid-sized follower that grants access to either a powerful Reanimate spell or cheap removal.

Mordecai, Eternal Duelist: A powerful, 10-PP finisher that has immense “staying power”. In combination with Reanimate abilities, this follower can be played from the grave as early as turn 6.

Rotation Alternative Options

Expansion: Base Set
Expansion: Starforged Legends
Expansion: Starforged Legends
Expansion: Brigade of the Sky
Expansion: Chronogenesis
Expansion: Brigade of the Sky

Soul Conversion: Potential candidate as it provides more draw power,  thus helping the consistency of the deck.

Troth’s Curse: A reliable removal spell.

Ceres of the Night: Powerful mid-game follower that has amazing defensive properties. With Sow Death, Reap Life, this card can cause lots of problems for the opponent trying to push damage.

Stygian Warden: Another follower with the Burial Rite ability. This ability destroys a random follower, so this card alone can deal with two opposing followers with evolution.

Sow Death, Reap Life: Another option with the Reanimate ability, except it is dependent on the turn count of the match.

Proto Bahamut: A powerful follower with mass removal ability. This is another card to bring back using Reanimate abilities.

Rotation Budget Options

The current sample deck contains 6 distinct legendary cards, making this deck very difficult to build. To start off with the necessary cards, Ceridwen and Mordecai are crucial for the deck to do what it is supposed to do. Aisha is the next priority, as it provides an alternate win condition for the deck, and also because the Necromancy demand is quite low for this deck. Cerberus and Rulenye are great cards, but a full playset is not absolutely necessary for the deck to function. Finally, Ferry is a tech card that allows Mordecai to produce big damage, and is definitely one of those ‘luxury’ cards. If these cards are difficult to obtain, focus the deck more on the Reanimate mechanic, and add cards such as Sytgian Warden and Sow Death, Reap Life. If large followers are common in the meta, also reserve some space for Troth’s Curse.

Rotation General Gameplan and Tips/Tricks

  • This deck takes time to set-up, so board control is top priority. It is not recommended to be aggressive with this deck; focusing on trades is extremely important.

  • In the early- and mid-game, focus on drawing big followers and discard them using Burial Rite abilities

  • A common misconception with Ceridwen, Eternity Hunter is that it should always be used for the Reanimate option. Remember that the key to victory with this deck is board control, so do not hesitate to choose the removal option!

  • Ferry, Spirit Maiden can be used to give Mordecai the ability to attack three times, dealing a total of 21 damage!
