The weekly meta-analysis, brought to you by Gamepress, utilizes data published on Shadowverse Log to provide a summary of popular and strong decks in the meta-game.
Usage and Win Rates by Archetypes
|Archetypes||# Used||# of Wins||Win %||Win % (going 1st)||Win % (going 2nd)|
|D. Shift Runecraft||1690||822||48.6%||50.8%||46.5%|
Aside from Havencraft and Dragoncraft switching between 5th and 6th place, the popularity of classes is similar to the previous week. Notably, the top 3 most popular classes has been the same for numerous weeks now, solidifying their names as the best decks of this current Unlimited format. The popular archetypes does not change often in this format, which may be largely attributed to the scarcity of tournaments featuring this format. Generally, new archetypes gain explosive popularity from tournament decks and there may be a risk of a stagnant Ranked match environment due to the lack of this exposure.
It is also very interesting that the top 10 archetype used this week are mostly from classes that are not in the top 3 classes used. What this type of data generally implies is that the popular classes is dominated by a single archetype or two archetypes at best.
Shadowcraft has taken the top spot since the release of the current expansion, clearly solidifying its name as the most popular class in Unlimited format (ladder). There really is only one popular archetype for this class currently, which is Midrange Shadowcraft or some may refer to it as Eachtar Shadowcraft. With its oppressive board presence, immense draw power, and reliable finishers, Midrange Shadowcraft has few weaknesses and has a good matchup against most decks in the meta. The Lord Atomy Shadowcraft archetype is also seen in Ranked matches, but is far less popular than its Midrange counterpart.
|Class/Archetypes||Midrange Win %|
|Vs. Midrange Shadowcraft||N/A|
|Vs. Vengeance Bloodcraft||54.8%|
|Vs. D. Shift Runecraft||52.4%|
|Vs. OTK Forestcraft||54.7%|
|Vs. Earth Runecraft||53.8%|
|Vs. Elana Havencraft||48.1%|
|Vs. Ramp Dragoncraft||63.6%|
|Vs. Midrange Swordcraft||47.9%|
|Vs. Tenko Havencraft||57.6%|
|Vs. Face Dragoncraft||64.9%|
Runecraft is sitting at second place over Bloodcraft, despite Vengeance Bloodcraft having higher usage than Dimensional Shift Runecraft, the most popular Runecraft deck in Unlimited. The reason for this is simple, Runecraft has one more popular archetype, Earth Essence (Burn) Runecraft. The numbers shown in the tables make the decks seem unattractive, but most win percentages are very close to 50%, and Runecraft is generally a class that requires a lot of skill and experience to pilot the deck properly. In BO3 tournaments, D. Shift Runecraft is even more popular because it is able to stop a plethora of decks, if piloted by an experienced player.
|Class/Archetypes||D. Shift Win %||Earth Win %|
|Vs. Midrange Shadowcraft||47.6%||46.3%|
|Vs. Vengeance Bloodcraft||46.1%||50.8%|
|Vs. D. Shift Runecraft||N/A||50%|
|Vs. OTK Forestcraft||45%||40.7%|
|Vs. Earth Runecraft||50%||N/A|
|Vs. Elana Havencraft||80%||45.5%|
|Vs. Ramp Dragoncraft||71.4%||52.6%|
|Vs. Midrange Swordcraft||48.3%||40%|
|Vs. Tenko Havencraft||44.8%||22.2%|
|Vs. Face Dragoncraft||32.1%||50%|
Bloodcraft has taken the third most popular spot for a few weeks in a row. Its popularity is due to the Vengeance Bloodcraft build, a thrilling and offensive deck that is able to end games fast. The deck is well suited for ladder because games involving this deck generally end quick (not always in the user’s favor, though) and there is definitely less thinking involved compared to decks such as OTK Forestcraft or D. Shift Runecraft. Aside from having a poor matchup against OTK Forestcraft and a slight disadvantage against Midrange Shadowcraft, Vengeance Bloodcraft has been, and is, doing well against all other decks in the meta.
|Class/Archetypes||Vengeance Win %|
|Vs. Midrange Shadowcraft||45.2%|
