Brigade of the Sky Meta-Report 9 (09/03/18 ~ 09/09/18) Rotation

Meta Analysis History

The weekly meta-analysis, brought to you by Gamepress, utilizes data published on Shadowverse Log to provide a summary of popular and strong decks in the meta-game. Shadowverse Log is a Japanese, public data set that compiles user-reported matchup data. Please be aware that Shadowvere Log is unofficial and unaffiliated with Cygames, Inc. 09/03/18 ~ 09/09/18 Statistic

Usage Rates by Classes

The Brigade of the Sky format is now approximately three weeks in post release of the mini-expansion. Portalcraft and Runecraft has maintained their popularity, with both seeing less than 1% change in usage. Dragoncraft has fell off the top 3 after making a dramatic appearance 3 weeks ago, losing about 5% in usage. This 5% deficit correlated with the 5% increase in usage by Forestcraft, which moved back up to third place.

Win Rates by Classes

Although the current format saw Forestcraft, Swordcraft, and Portalcraft consistently in the ‘over 50% win rate’ group, Swordcraft saw a slight dip this week. However, this did not affect the leaderboard, as the class still managed to place third place in win percentages. Notably, Runecraft win percentages have been steadily increasing over the past few weeks, and this may be partially due to increasing Dragoncraft usage, as decks such as G. Chimera Runecraft favor slower matchups.

Usage and Win Rates by Archetypes

Archetypes # Used # of Wins Win %
Puppet Portalcraft 6575 3721 56.6%
G. Chimera Runecraft 2962 1511 51.0%
Ramp Dragoncraft 2317 1033 44.6%
Aggro Forestcraft 2117 1207 57.0%
Tenko Havencraft 2116 1060 50.1%
Arcus Shadowcraft 1442 713 49.4%
Midrange Swordcraft 1301 638 49.0%
Midrange Forestcraft 1249 650 52.0%
Mysteria Runecraft 747 325 43.5%
Abyss Summoner Runecraft 671 324 48.3%
Aggro Swordcraft 504 260 51.6%
Lion Havencraft 482 210 43.6%

The popular archetypes this week appeared to closely mimic the distribution that was seen before the release of the mini-expansion. The popularity leaderboard, like always, closely reflected the class leaderboard. This week may be the first week that G. Chimera has seen a positive win percentage this format, which, as said above, may be due to an increase in Dragoncraft players.

Portalcraft, specifically the Puppet Portalcraft archetype, is still dominating the meta, having a positive matchup against majority of other archetypes in the current meta. Against certain matchups, Puppet Portalcraft approaches, and sometimes exceeds, win percentages of 60%. This percentage, by itself, tells only half the story, as it is the number of matchups which Puppet Portalcraft has this win percentage that is truly amazing.

Opponent Archetype G. Chimera Win % Mysteria Win % Abyss Win %

Vs. Lion Havencraft 69.4% 71.4% 33.3%

Runecraft has dropped to third place in the last two weeks, but is now back to its rightful place at second place. The G. Chimera archetype remains to be the most popular build and it is no surprise as the win percentage suggests a good matchup against many decks in the format. The deck still struggles against Arcus Shadowcraft and aggro decks, but this is nothing new. Mysteria Runecraft, which has recently cemented its place in the meta, does not have an attractive number of positive matchups. The Mysteria archetype still struggles to find good synergy in existing cards, but its damage capabilities are phenomenal when the appropriate cards are drawn in sequence. Abyss Summoner Runecraft is still a popular choice in tournament play, and despite having few positive matchups in the meta, it is worthy to note that it presents good numbers against Puppet Portalcraft, the strongest deck in the current meta.

Opponent Archetype Aggro Win % Midrange Win %
Vs. Puppet Portalcraft 48.5% 45.6%
Vs. G. Chimera Runecraft 61.6% 44.4%
Vs. Ramp Dragoncraft 53.7% 44.0%
Vs. Aggro Forestcraft N/A 40.0%
Vs. Tenko Havencraft 58.3% 54.2%
Vs. Arcus Shadowcraft 63.8% 56.0%
Vs. Midrange Swordcraft 70.2% 65.5%
Vs. Midrange Forestcraft 60.0% N/A
Vs. Mysteria Runecraft 56.3% 73.0%
Vs. Abyss Summoner Runecraft 62.8% 57.7%
Vs. Aggro Swordcraft 62.8% 38.5%
Vs. Lion Havencraft 77.1% 58.3%

Forestcraft has fallen off the top 3 classes in usage with the release of the mini-expansion, but as the hype for the new cards slowly withered, the most consistent class this season is back in contention. The aggro build is much more popular in the meta, although there are no definitive criteria that separates the two builds. As always, Aggro Forestcraft has great matchups in the current meta, with statistics only showing a losing matchup against Puppet Portalcraft, the best deck in the format. The archetype also has the highest win rate, even over Puppet Portalcraft.
