Omen of the Ten Meta-Report 5 (10/22/18 ~ 10/28/18) Rotation

Meta Analysis History

The weekly meta-analysis, brought to you by Gamepress, utilizes data published on Shadowverse Log to provide a summary of popular and strong decks in the meta-game. Shadowverse Log is a Japanese, public data set that compiles user-reported matchup data. Please be aware that Shadowvere Log is unofficial and unaffiliated with Cygames, Inc. The archetype designation in this report emulates categorization used on Shadowverse Log, and therefore may not completely reflect the appropriate archetype in the current meta.

10/22/18 ~ 10/28/18 Statistic

Usage Rates by Classes

The Rotation environment appeared to be stabilizing in the last few weeks, but this week’s results say otherwise! Bloodcraft is back on its throne, gaining over 5% in usage since last week. A change that is even more surprising is the sudden fall in popularity of Swordcraft, dropping by a whopping 6% since last week. Dragoncraft and Shadowcraft usage did not change much since last week; the amount of usage drop in Shadowcraft appear to correspond with the slight increase in Dragoncraft’s usage. A dynamic meta is never bad for the game, but the changes this week seem to hardly have an explanation...perhaps players are practicing for the post-nerf meta?

Win Rates by Classes

Last week’s win percentage data seemed to be skewed by erroneous data, and this week’s statistics seem to be more believable. Four classes have a positive win percentage, all of which are also the most popular classes right now. Incidentally, these are also the four classes that are most affected by the upcoming card adjustments, so it will be exciting to see how the nerfs affect next week’s statistic!

This week, Darkfeast Bat Bloodcraft, Midrange Swordcraft, and Midrange Shadowcraft were the most used deck types, and this popularity is no surprise with the win rates they have! The Darkfeast Bat deck, for weeks, have had difficulty in maintaining a win percentage over 50% despite its popularity. New players concerned about investing in the deck can rest assured, as the deck is extremely powerful and a great choice for ladder matches. It is impressive that Midrange Swordcraft still places second when considering deck type, especially after the class overall has placed fourth in usage.

Darkfeast Bat Bloodcraft’s overwhelming popularity should not surprise anyone, as this deck is a perfect choice for playing lots of ladder matches. Games involving this deck hardly goes past the 8th turn (does not necessarily equate to victory), and fast games are exactly what players are looking for when ranked match points are of interest. The deck barely has losing matchups, and even these specific matchups are very close to being even. Swordcraft and Shadowcraft are generally the two classes that the current version of the deck has difficulty with, since they are able to constantly apply board pressure.

Shadowcraft may not be the most popular class, but it consistently places 1st or 2nd in terms of win percentages. Midrange Shadowcraft had an impressive win rate of 55.9% this week, and this ‘slow and steady’ deck has a winning matchup against majority of its colleagues in the current meta. Nerfs to Gremory next week will definitely affect the consistency and firepower of the deck, but there is no doubt that this deck will still be popular in weeks to come. Differences between Midrange and Arcus builds have been quite ‘gray’ since the current expansion was released, but the two decks are starting to look slightly different due to many players opting to play 3 Gilnelise to 1 Arcus (or sometimes 0) in their Midrange decks.

Vs. Darkfeast Bat Bloodcraft 40.8% 39.3%

Vs. (Other) Swordcraft 48.7% 60.4%
Vs. (Other) Bloodcraft 39.1% 42.2%
Vs. (Other) Shadowcraft 65.1% 50.8%

Dragoncraft moved up in popularity since last week, rising to third place overall. The Disdain variant is the most popular build for the class, and its matchup spread makes it a very attractive deck for weeks to come. However, it is expected for the deck to have difficulty establishing its dominance as long as Darkfeast Bat Bloodcraft is roaming in high numbers. It will be interesting to see how the nerf of Darkfeast Bat will affect this matchup next week.
